FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 – PRAY FOR JAPAN
This is maybe one of the hardest easter eggs to find from Final Fantasy XIII-2. In the cutscene where the yellow lines emerge from the chaos and try to grap Lightning, is written in them “PRAY FOR JAPAN” with FFXIII alphabets (Etro’s script to be exact). They were added in them after the Earthquake happened in Japan back in 2011.
Interestingly, later on in an interview Toriyama stated that the overall theme of XIII-2 was “undying hope in a catastrophe”. The ending was heavily inspired by the events that transpired in Japan during the game’s development, with the Chaos corrupting the world as the catastrophe and Lightning’s crystallization symbolizing undying hope.
